I didn't poop on the floor.

Nope, That's what the back yard is for. Trees for taunting squirls and the cornners of the fence for chasing rabbits. Really its more about the quick sprint than the actual bagging of game. Besides, treats are far better than fur stuck to my tongue.

Life Giveth and Life Giveth Structure

Now that I am now less than a month from my original deadline of six months, it is rather apparent that this will take much, much longer than I had originally imagined. The story that ran last month that said something to the effect that these could be done in as little as 20 minutes. I am in no way complaing. I just wanted to make it a bit more clear. I can tell you for sure that I have not done one for this project in less that 2 hours. It is true that I have done a couple quick ones in that short amount of time but not for this. Having said that it has also been a little more difficult getting workable images simply due to the small file size that is inherent in web images. To overcome that I have been using images that I have taken at various events and happenings that I cover through the years.

Oh yes, Life. The reason we are all here. BIRTHDAYS!
For one who has at times been known to make list of lists, this latest bit only seems make sense. Using images that I have on file lends more bias to the project that what I had intended. What better way to give structure to a less than ridged framework. It is of coures mostly a suggestion but it dose make it much more random and a bit more challenging. The best part so far is that it has been much more efficient for motivation. Some days deliver only a couple of birthdays and some as much as seven. As of today, we have been without A/C for the spring at Northland and it has been hot. Too hot for me and way too hot for my gear. That will change in the comming days.( I hope) There are many more fineshed an will be released shortly.

Just for you Mr. Betts

Hello, its been a while. I am of course finding this project to be more fun as it gets going. I also find that the time to complete each peice gets shorter as the daylight gets longer. Not to fear though I have many, many more in the works here and most of these don't really get fineshed all in one session. Somtimes you have to go where the wind takes you, just as long as is it does not blow you away.

Two Fold

Hello.

There is kind of a two fold part to this project. For a lot of you I have many good images that I have no problem using. Here is the the two fold part: Facebook is the current outlet for self representation and semi public self indulgence. It will let us place our selves in the best light possible and allow others to put us in an equally good light or light that we may not remember and sometimes may not want to shown in. The latter, to a lesser degree as it is intended to be a personal network of friends.

By giving the option of choice to the user in what they feel that best represents of them selves, we can mimic the best light scenario that facebook provides or that we give one an other. It is not that I have any intention of putting anyone in a bad light, it would however maintain my original concept when I first started this proses and type of work that is to use only my original images. That is to say that all art work comes from a time and a place in which I was personally involved or mearly an observer, but very much present none the less.

New and Old

In the spirit of forward progress it is sometimes necessary to push forth with what is not particularly new to those who may perceive it as new. Hence the "spirit" of forward progress, related to but not to be confused with actual progress. Perception of course is the whole point and on many levels. What you see is not always what you expect and often time what is expected is overlooked.  In the coming days many more new work will be released that has been finished but did not fit entirely with today's deployment.

The image of Adam however is a new piece but from an original photo taken in 2007 at the Vaudeville Mews.

If you are interested, submissions are encouraged so feel free to find something of yourself and lets see what happens.  artmeetsinnovation@gmail.com

Project Facebook; Step 1... Inspiration! The Masquerade (band)

Hello and welcome.

This will be the first example of my work here as it is the newest so far. Makes sense. Seems like a good place to start. So this whole idea of painting an image of each person on my facebook friends list came to me last Saturday while finishing up paintings of The Masquerade Band that had been playing a show earlier in the week at the newly opened Club 504 in Downtown Des Moines's East Village. At first it felt like an impossible idea, and it may be, only time will tell.

Now I feel as if I should give some clarity to this concept. For instance at the current moment I have somewhere in the upper 750's on this friends list. To some that may seem frivolous and unnecessary and to others, that may just be a start. In the original facebook post announcing the launch and request for images, I stated that I would like to have these all done By July 2011. Which is less that six month from now, That's almost four a day.  I do have to admit that I don't  know some of them but never the less thought it would be an extra insight into those in which I have been personally invited into their privately public lives. Part of the stipulation is that I have to limit it to those who are that list as of today.
More about my proses later...
